Kids of all sizes love snuggling up in a pair of cozy, footed pajamas…including the 18 inch variety! Also known as a blanket sleeper, these pajamas are stretchy and form fitting. There are made from 4 way stretch knit fabric with coral ribbing on the collar and cuffs. Textured fabric is sewn on the sole bottoms. You certainly don’t want your doll to slip and fall!
The pattern used is from Matilda’s Closet, found on Pixie Faire. Available from Etsy.com/shop/adollablebyrita
All seams are serged for a clean finish and this item was made in my smoke/pet free sewing studio.
I learned to sew by participating in the 4-H program in southeastern Idaho. Every summer, I would sew different projects, beginning with gingham aprons at age 8 and concluding at age 16 with a fully lined wool suit for the “Make it With Wool” national contest. My leader focused on teaching couture techniques. Our projects were judged at the county and state fairs. My exposure to American Girl Dolls started when my oldest granddaughter received her first doll. I started sewing for this 18 inch doll and loved it. Soon, I was making clothes for friends, neighbors and others in my community. After receiving a serger as a gift, I knew I was ready to take my creations to the next level. I could make the inside look as pretty as the outside and increase the durability in the clothing. I had, and have, the technical support of Wimmer’s Sewing Machine Shop; the best sewing machine shop in the Intermountain Region. So here I am, sewing clothes for these adorable dolls and loving every minute of it; and providing adorable girls choices to dress their American Girl Dolls.
