Historical Civil War Abolitionist/Women’s Rights Advocate Sojourner Truth Outfit and Accessories for 18″ Dolls
This is a 10-piece, OOAK outfit inspired by Civil War abolitionist and women’s rights advocate Sojourner Truth, designed for 18″ dolls.
The listing consists of the following items: Dress, belt, apron, petticoat, crinoline, drawers, cap, shawl, knitting bag, and knitting accessories.
The ensemble is my interpretation of a famous photograph of Sojourner Truth. Her striking style in the photograph is represented by bold polka-dots, broad stripes, and bright colors. The dress has a bodice designed to include a combination shirtwaist and jacket look all-in-one. The undersleeves match the polka-dot skirt, and the attached oversleeves are trimmed in black braid. The faux-button front has five tiny black buttons. The bodice is lined, and fastens in the back with snaps.
The separate belt is made from a colorful braided trim with colors that match the broad stripes of her bodice. The belt fastens in the back with two snaps.
The cap is made from white cotton with white embroidery along the brim. It features a full gathered back to accommodate your doll’s hair.
The shawl is made from white velvet burnout fabric with silky knotted trim.
The apron is made from beautiful sapphire-blue polished cotton, and features two large pockets on the front and a tie in the back.
The ruffled petticoat is made from cotton eyelet, and fastens in the back with a snap.
The crinoline is made from white cotton and features boning in channels around the crinoline to help give the skirts some fashionable fullness. It ties around the waist with a ribbon.
The drawers are made from white cotton eyelet that matches the petticoat, and features a yoke, and snap fastener in the back.
The knitting bag is made from black flocked denim with faux-leather handles. The bag is lined in black silky fabric. The bag contains two tiny skeins of yarn, a pair of knitting needles, and a sample of knitted fabric.
This listing comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. Doll, shoes, glasses, and other accessories not included.
The dress was made from the Stand by Me pattern by Crabapples. The apron was made from the Prairie Rose pattern by Thimbles & Acorns. The petticoat, crinoline, and drawers were made from the Victorian Unmentionables pattern by Thimbles & Acorns. The knitting bag was made from the Susan B. Anthony’s Alligator Bag pattern by Flossie Potter Patterns.
