It’s time to play! Whether your princess is going to the playground, on a picnic, or heading back to school, she will be able to do everything she wants to do in her fun, loose fitting Playground Pants! Mix and match prints and solids to create your own unique pants for your Disney Animator ® princess doll. With or without working pockets, these pants are easy to sew and fun to make! Make them from flannel for a cute Christmas or other holiday look! This pattern is also ideal to make cargo style pants for boy dolls!
Skill level: Easy
These comfy play pants are easily made from 1/4 yard of cotton fabric or lightweight denim and 9 inches of 1/4 inch elastic. (You can also use fat quarters!) Mix and match your fabrics to create a different look each time. The elastic waistband makes these pants easy for little hands to dress their dolls and the easy construction is perfect for even younger seamstresses to learn to sew.
This pattern was specifically designed and tested on the Disney Animator ® series dolls. Not all dolls, even of the same brand, are exactly the same size. Be sure to measure your Playground Pants on your own doll as you go along to ensure a perfect fit. My Princess Anna doll has legs that measure 3/4 inches shorter than big sister, Queen Elsa. Do you sew? Do you want to? Does your daughter ask you to make new clothes for her dolls? Or would she like to learn herself?
This is where I was with my daughter. She wanted me to make so many things I couldn’t keep the list up! I decided it was time for her to do it herself. (9-11 years old). I created some simple patterns, based on simple designs that would teach her, step by step, how to make them herself. (But do not underestimate the power of a simple design! A new fabric, a shirt underneath, a few buttons on front, a ruffle added…you can create a whole wardrobe and lots of unique looks with just a few basic pattern pieces.) With a few scraps of fabric, and a pattern printed on your home computer, you and your “girl” will be making her dolls into fashionistas!
