Popsicle Top Sewing Pattern for 18 inch dolls
Sew your own doll clothes with this easy sewing pattern. Your doll can beat the heat in a cute, trendy crop top! Plus it’s reversible for two looks in one!
The Popsicle Top is a simple, loose tank top that is easy to sew, and pairs perfectly with the Sixth Grade Skirt or Sandbox Shorts, both of which are also available from Oh Sew Kat! You can make your top reversible for double the outfits! With a velcro closure in back, it’s easy on and off for little hands. This pattern is also a perfect starter pattern for girls that want to learn to sew for their dolls, or for more experienced seamstresses to make a basic doll wardrobe with lots of options.
Skill level: Easy
This classic but simple top is very easily made from a quarter yard of fabric (quilter’s fat quarters work great!) in a woven cotton or other lightweight fabric. Mix and match your fabrics and trims for unlimited design options.
Your instant download file will include full color photos, full sized pattern pieces and directions. Just print and sew! You can find a tutorial for flipping the bodice inside out on my blog: www.ohsewkat.com.
This pattern was specifically designed and tested on 18 inch dolls such as American Girl ®. My dolls have a waist measurement average of 10 1/2 inches. Please measure and test the fit on your own doll as there are many on the market and it may not fit the same on all of them. This pattern is also available sized for WellieWishers ™ , Bitty Baby®, and Disney Animator® dolls in my shop. Oh Sew Kat is not affiliated with American Girl® and no endorsement is implied.

Do you sew? Do you want to? Does your daughter ask you to make new clothes for her dolls? Or would she like to learn herself?
This is where I was with my daughter. She wanted me to make so many things I couldn’t keep the list up! I decided it was time for her to do it herself. (9-11 years old). I created some simple patterns, based on simple designs that would teach her, step by step, how to make them herself. (But do not underestimate the power of a simple design! A new fabric, a shirt underneath, a few buttons on front, a ruffle added…you can create a whole wardrobe and lots of unique looks with just a few basic pattern pieces.) With a few scraps of fabric, and a pattern printed on your home computer, you and your “girl” will be making her dolls into fashionistas!
