Meet Your Site Hostess ...

Hi! My name is Kristin Rutten and I am your iCreate site administrator and community hostess.

You may know me from my doll pattern design business, Matilda Jo Originals, which includes patterns for 18-inch dolls sold under the Matilda’s Closet and AptOne8 brand names. Or perhaps we’ve met on Facebook through the iCreate for Dolls group or one of the many other doll-related sites on the web.

Or maybe this is the first time we’ve met, in which case I look forward to getting to know you on our site!

Kristin Rutten, iCreate Administrator

Why would someone like me want to create and manage a community website like iCreate for Dolls? Well, for starters, I have a constant need to create and to challenge myself with new projects. As a result, I’ve done a lot of different things over the past several years. In fact, you might call me a “Jill of All Trades.”

For instance, my job titles have included:
• Community Newspaper Managing Editor, Layout Designer & Reporter
• Employment Specialist for a state Job Service office
• Executive Director of the Fergus County Council on Aging
• AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer for a local Boys & Girls Club
• Preschool teacher … and later home childcare provider, with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education
• Self-employed business owner of Creative Handcrafts, Spotlight Memory Studio, Log Your Memory, Webtiste and Matilda Jo Originals (just to name a few!)

I’ve learned a lot along the way and enjoy creating opportunities to share what I’ve learned with others while continuing to challenge myself to learn and grow. My hope is that iCreate for Dolls can be an avenue through which I can share my intense need to always create along with my varied experiences as a designer, writer, publisher, marketer, website tech and project manager with people just like YOU who enjoy creating for dolls.

I look forward to sharing, learning and growing alongside you!
